A BILL to amend the Code of West Vifrginia,1931, as amended, by adding thereto a new section, designated §47-26-2a, relating to requiring all pawnbrokers to upload pictures to their website of all pawned items before these items may be sold.

Be it enacted by the Legislature of West Virginia:


That the Code of West Virginia, 1931, as amended, be amended by adding thereto a new section, designated §47-26-2a, to read as follows:

ARTICLE 26. PAWNBROKERS.


§47-26-2a. Pictures of pawned items must be posted on the Internet.

Pictures of all items pawned shall be posted on an Internet site maintained by the pawnbroker for a period of one month before the items may be offered for sale.

 

 

NOTE: The purpose of this bill is to require pawnbrokers to post pictures of all items pawned to an Internet site they maintain for a period of one month before they may sell the items. This should help deter the pawning of stolen items.
